Washing clothes releases 500,000 tons of microfibres into the ocean each year according to World Economic Forum statistics, that\u2019s the equivalent of 50 billion plastic bottles in weight but each tiny fibre is small enough to be absorbed by plankton and bioaccumulates up into our food chains.<\/span><\/p> Follow the food chain and what you\u2019ll find is what we wear is ending up on our plates in micro-form.
